THRU Talks

THRU Talks are interactive life skills events designed to help individuals navigate experiences or situations useful when transitioning into adulthood. These are great avenues to connect with peers and explore topics that support personal growth and independence.

Fostering Success—Cellphone Program 

Through a partnership with T-Mobile, participants may receive a cell phone and service as they pursue education and employment, while actively engaged in THRU Project services.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled in THRU Project mentoring for at least three months 
  • Maintain regular communication with their mentor and THRU Project Staff 
  • Be employed, enrolled in school, or participating in a vocational/educational program 
  • Complete required quarterly surveys.  

Length of Support

Participants may receive cell phone service for up to two years while remaining in good standing and meeting program requirements.  

At the end of the program:  

  • Participants may keep their device 
  • Phone numbers cannot be transferred to another provider 
  • Participants will lose the assigned phone number once service ends.

How to Sign Up:

Cell phone assistance is available to eligible THRU Project participants and is dependent on device availability. Speak with THRU Project staff to learn more.

Bus Pass Program

Reliable transportation is often the key to success for young people transitioning from foster care. Having access to a bus pass allows youth to secure and maintain employment, continue their education, attend important appointments, and build more independent lives. 

Eligibility

Through our partnership with VIA, THRU Project is able to provide free bus passes to youth and young adults with lived experience in foster care.  

Requirements

  • Have lived experience in foster care
  • Currently enrolled in one of THRU Project’s programs (Housing, Mentoring, BreakTHRU)
